Kitchens big enough to cook in – is it too much to ask?

You would think the national Home Builders’ Federation would jump at the chance to build better designed social housing instead of the rabbit hutches currently on offer.

Would not it give them a nice glow to know that they’d provided enough space to not only store the ironing board, but also unfold and use it, somewhere to stash the kids' toys, and a kitchen big enough to sit down and eat in?
